We are a dynamic foundation dedicated to empowering startup and established non-profit organizations that are actively transforming lives and strengthening communities.

The 'M' Movement is a dynamic foundation dedicated to empowering non-profit organizations that are actively transforming lives and strengthening communities. We recognize that while many non-profit founders bring incredible passion and specialized skills, they often face significant challenges in scaling their operations and accessing vital resources.

The 'M' Movement was born from a simple, profound truth echoed across three sacred voices—Moses, Messiah, and Muhammad. Each bore a message from God, calling us to love and uplift our communities, and to care for one another. Though the scriptures may differ—the Torah, the Bible, the Quran—the fundamental thread is the same: unity in service and compassion without condition. This philosophy emphasizes radical acceptance and a commitment to ending poverty and caring for those most in need, reflecting a deep-seated belief in helping each other thrive, regardless of background or belief.

The 'M' Movement serves as the connective tissue empowering changemakers. Rooted in a universal message of compassionate unity, we act as a force multiplier for established and startup non-profits, providing strategic guidance, vital resources, and powerful collaborations to drive their impact from vision to exponential scale. We actively bind together diverse 501(c)(3)s, fostering collective action and helping them realize the comprehensive power of unified efforts. We help changemakers move from vision to action, and from impact to scale. Whether an organization is a nascent startup with a big idea or an established entity ready to grow, The 'M' Movement serves as a force multiplier—offering crucial resources ranging from financial capital to human expertise, alongside strategic guidance and hands-on mentorship.

We strategically identify and vet organizations we feel a strong calling to support, initiating discovery calls to understand their unique needs and aspirations. Beyond direct support, we also actively seek to partner with existing foundations and charitable funds, collaborating on projects where our passions for community upliftment mutually align.

Inspired by the profound concept of diverse 'trees' forming a powerful 'forest'—like the enduring Cedar, the peaceful Palm, and the symbolic Olive, reflecting Roland's Lebanese roots—we believe that when mission-driven people come together, their work becomes not just additive, but exponential. Like buildings and businesses that interconnect to form a neighborhood—where a single tree becomes a forest and the forest becomes an ecosystem—we see our collective work as a living network of purpose, scale, and compassion. That’s the movement we’re building.

Roland Kassis

Roland Kassis is a builder of places, partnerships, and purpose – shaping spaces that invite connection and ventures that drive meaningful change. Born in Lebanon during the early years of the civil war, Roland spent much of his childhood trading one conflict for another, between Beirut and Monrovia, Liberia. His education later took him to France and the United States, where a patchwork of global experiences began shaping a lifelong belief in the power of place, people, and possibility.

Roland began his career by founding KassCon, which grew into one of the largest building services companies in the eastern United States. That foundation propelled him into real estate, where he has spent over two decades developing neighborhood-scale projects that combine thoughtful design with cultural and economic revitalization. Roland has led the transformation of Philadelphia’s Fishtown into one of the country’s most vibrant neighborhoods through careful tenant curation, historic restoration, strong partnerships, and a deep commitment to the community.

Through the formation of Kassis & Co, Roland has focused on early-stage ventures and creative startups, and has co-founded a number of businesses across multiple industries. Through Peroni Construction, Roland built a company that self-performed over 1 million square feet of build-out. With Defined Hospitality, he has helped launch some of Philadelphia’s best restaurants: Suraya, Pizzeria Beddia, and World’s 50 Best Restaurants, North America / James Beard-Awarded Kalaya. Roland also started the Archway Hotel Residence, a boutique-extended-stay concept rooted in local hospitality; Briquette Studio, a narrative-driven interior design firm; Brevity Films, a platform for powerful storytelling whose work has been featured at Sundance, Tribeca, and other major international film festivals; and The ‘M’ Movement, a nonprofit initiative that supports startup nonprofits rooted in service with strategic guidance, infrastructure, and capital.

Across all his work, Roland is known for his ability to identify exceptional talent, align them with their strengths, and position them where they thrive in order to build organizations that last. He takes pride not only in what gets built, but also in the teams that run and sustain those efforts – believing that the right mix of trust, clarity, and shared vision is what turns ideas into lasting impact. Roland has served on numerous boards throughout his career, including the Builders Industry Association and the ASPCA, reflecting his broader commitment to civic and cultural initiatives. Roland continues to work across cultures and disciplines, with the same commitment to building for-profit and nonprofit ventures that connect, empower, and endure.
